Standout Features

What new and returning features can you expect from Sony’s impressive lineup in 2021?

Master Series

In 2021, Sony is upgrading its Master Series with two new additions: The Z9J 8K LED TV and the A90J 4K OLED TV. The Z9J is Sony’s only new display featuring 8K resolution, while the A90J is Sony’s new flagship OLED TV this year. One standout feature exclusive to the Z9J is the Contrast Booster 15, which optimizes overall contrast by enhancing brightness and black levels on-screen. Other cool features included with the Z9J are X-Wide Angle (for optimal viewing from any angle) and X-Anti Reflection (for minimal glare).

Middle Range

The A80J 4K OLED is Sony’s scaled-down OLED offering this year. The X95J 4K LED and X90J 4K LED models don’t have all the features the Z9J 8K LED model does, but they offer fantastic quality for a more affordable price. Sony’s middle range options come with the features listed in the “Standout Features” section, including the Cognitive Processor XR. In addition, X95J and X90J models have Contrast Booster 10, X-Wide Angle, and X-Anti Reflection features. They’re both full-array LEDs with superb backlight control for inky blacks and enhanced contrast and brightness.

Budget-Friendly

Sony’s most budget-friendly new offerings are the X85J 4K TV and the X80J 4K TV. You lose the Cognitive Processor XR for these models and have the Processor X1 in its place. Additionally, these models lose Netflix Calibrated Mode, IMAX Enhanced, Acoustic Multi-Audio technology, and 3D Surround Upscaling. They have Contrast Booster 5 but no X-Wide Angle or X-Anti Reflection features. Finally, these models drop from full-array LEDs to edge-lit LEDs.
